The interior of the 19th century church is shown in this photo. Above the arch the words "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy GOD and Him only shalt thou serve" seem to be accompanied by some paintings. Since then the words & picture have been painted over.. |
Enderby and it's Churches actively supported the Leicester Royal Infirmary. Indeed, Enderby Parish Church sent an annual contribution of eggs and other food to the Infirmary as part of the annual Harvest celebrations. The above photo is from the dedication of one of the beds or cots provided by Enderby, with the Rev. Hibbert (in he white robes) representing the Parish Church. |

This is a photo from the war years when a bed was given to the Infirmary. Later, with the birth of the NHS, the infirmary did not have to rely on Enderby's charity. A quick mention of the last cot donated by Enderby was in a 1948 parish magazine, which is quoted on a web page available by clicking here. |
This is a picture of the consecration of part of Enderby Parish Church graveyard, further down the hill, with the Rev. Gill (4th on the left) and the Bishop of Leicester (Far right). |
